Rent out your house for OTD

OTD2011 Stavanger currently experiences such demand for the show that getting hotel rooms in the nearby area has become impossible. We therefore encourage everyone in Stavanger to place their housing at disposition for the OTD, not unlike the situation during ONS.

The show takes place on the 19th and 20th of October, and many of the visitors need housing for three nights in order to have time for everything.

Project Manager for the OTD show, Peter Keilen, says that people even now have to travel to Sandnes to find the closest available hotel rooms, and even there hotels are starting to fill up.

The organisers have reserved more than 1 100 hotel rooms in the city, but this turns out to be far too little to meet the demand. The show in Stavanger is about to beat all records, and has already increased the number of bookings with 53% from last year. Even the most optimistic amongst us did not dare to predict this in advance, especially not with the fact in mind that we have taken the unusual step of moving the entire show to Stavanger for the year. In theory this should not be possible, Peter Keilen says, but in practice we see something completely different.

Unfortunately the OTD Management does not have the capacity to arrange the accommodation, but encourage those who have anything available, regardless of type of housing, to put an advertisement up at Finn.no.

He points out that those who make housing available also help strengthening Stavanger as a conference city for the future, and at the same time make it possible to handle the current great pressure at the show.
